The General Book Department has developed a reputation in California as a first-rate venue for books in critical theory, cultural studies, and theoretical texts that explore media, art, and gender.
We are also known for our unique selections in fiction, history, philosophy, poetry, politics, and science.
Our representation in a given subject area is often unusual and unpredictable in ways our customers appreciate; they are often surprised and challenged by what they find. Patrons of the store, in addition to the college's own faculty, students, and staff, include artists, writers, independent scholars, and students and faculty from universities all over Southern California.
We also carry over 100 magazine titles that reflect and complement our book inventory. We are interested in engaging, assisting, and rewarding the serious reader.
