Â鶹ÊÓƵ

Faculty

Our faculty are engaged scholars, committed teachers and dedicated mentors. They bring Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s distinctive interdisciplinary curriculum to life, helping students become the problem-solvers of tomorrow.

Faculty define the academic experience at Occidental. They are scholars and thought leaders, bringing their expertise into the classroom and creating an active and engaged intellectual community. Our 9:1 student:faculty ratio means that students get to know professors well during their time at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, in many cases working alongside them on research and creative projects. Faculty members serve as academic advisors, mentors and research collaborators. Best of all, the close relationship between Â鶹ÊÓƵ's faculty and students is rewarding on both sides of the equation.

Well beyond campus, the talents of our faculty allow them to make a profound impact in a number of different ways. Their expertise is sought out by major media outlets and their research helps shape policy and public discourse. Through books, peer-reviewed journals and other publications or creative works, they are forging new knowledge and shaping the way their fields are approached and understood. And as part of an institution that has long been focused on the public good, the work of our faculty elevates the College and produces graduates who are well-equipped to address society’s biggest challenges.
