Update: March 15, 2019

In order to comply with recent California Court of Appeals decisions, the College developed a new interim sexual misconduct policy that was shared with the campus community before it became effective on January 25, 2019. To ensure that the College’s Annual Fire Safety and Security Report contains its current sexual misconduct policy, as required by the Clery Act, some sections of the 2018 report have been updated to reflect the new interim sexual misconduct policy.

The updated 2018 Annual Fire Safety and Security Report (AFSSR) is now available: view the updated AFSSR. It contains no new information or policies other than those that relate to the new interim sexual misconduct policy.

The interim sexual misconduct policy is available to read and download in its entirety on the Title IX Office website.

A copy of the prior version of the 2018 AFSSR is available upon request from Campus Safety: campussafety@oxy.edu or (323) 259-2599.

This report is required by the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, as amended (the “Clery Act"), and contains detailed information on campus safety, security, and emergency response policies and procedures. It also contains crime and fire safety statistics for the 2017 calendar year (January-December) and the two previous calendar years (2016 and 2015).

Crime statistics cover certain categories of crimes specified in the Clery Act that occurred in Occidental’s Clery reporting area, which is defined as the Occidental campus; public property immediately adjacent to campus; off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the College that are used for educational purposes; and property controlled by organizations recognized by the College (such as Greek houses). Fire safety statistics cover all College- owned student housing. As in previous years, maps of the Clery neighborhood reporting areas are included in the report for your reference.
